Row 17: Ch 1, hdc in each st until body is the length you need before starting the legs.

Row 18: To start the legs you need to hdc the middle together, the way I did this was I had my daughter try it on and used safety pins to hold the middle together to make sure it fit right then hdc where the safety pins were. stop holding both sides together and hdc on only one side, you have just started your first leg. You want to make sure you do the same thing to the other side to start the second leg.

Now it's time to make the arms, you will start off with the same color yarn on the arm hole. Attach your yarn in the corner and hdc around once you have done one set of color (a set is 3 rows of one color) you will skip a st when attaching your new color and you will keep doing this until you finish the arm, this is how you will dec the arm since the arm is not just one size.

Now it's time to start the hood using orange, grab your yarn and join at the top of the costume and then just hdc chaining 1 each time you turn, so it would be Ch 1, hdc across repeat until it is over your child's head. Then sew hood together inside out.

Tail

Now we are moving on to the tail, the tail should be long but not so long it drags on the ground. You’re going to ch, 5 join and put 8 sc in the ring.

Rnd 6: Sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st. 30 sts

Rnds 7–22: Sc in each st around. 30 st

Rnd 23: Sc in next 8 sts, 1 sc dec in next st, repeat to end.

Rnd 25: Sc in next 6 sts, 1 sc dec in next st, repeat to end.

Rnds 26–40: Sc in each st around.

Inner ears

Follow instruction for outer ear but do it with a G hook and in yellow. Sew inner ear to outer ear. DO NOT STUFF INNER EAR!

Fasten off. Leave long tail for sewing. Make sure to stuff ears but not to much stuffing just enough to make the ears stand up.

Now I will hand sew the Velcro on.

Star’s Use G Hook

Popcorn Stitch– To form a popcorn stitch, work 3 double crochets into the same stitch. It should look like a fan or a shell. Remove and insert the hook Pull up the active loop on your hook so it is large, and you don't have to worry about losing it. Then, remove your hook from the loop. Count back five double crochet stitches and insert your hook into the first double crochet you made.  Hook the active loop with your hook still in the first double crochet, go through the loose active loop. Once the loop is around your hook you can tighten the loop again. Close up the Popcorn Stitch Draw the active loop through the loops of the first double crochet to close up and complete the popcorn stitch. A finished popcorn stitch should look like a tiny cup made of double crochets.

Ch 6, join,

Round 1: *Work 1 popcorn stitch in ring. ch 2*.  Repeat 4 more times for a total of 5 popcorn stitches. Slip stitch into the top of the first popcorn stitch.

Round 2: Ch 2. In the same stitch, work (2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc).  In the next 4 puff stitches, work (3 dc, ch1, 3 dc).  Slip stitch into the first dc to end the round.

Round 3: *Ch 1. In the chain space from the previous round, work (1 hdc, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc, 1 hdc). Slip stitch into 3rd dc. *Repeat 4 more times.  The last slip stitch should end the round.
