Halloween may still be a little ways off, but I'm already hard at work on my biggest crochet project of the year and I couldn't be more excited to share it with you!
This year's costume is an original design that combines some of my favorite spooky themes into one cozy, handcrafted creation: the Pumpkin Patch Voodoo Scarecrow!
Instead of a traditional dress, I'm designing this costume with long sleeves and full-length pants to make it warm enough for the chilly Halloween nights. The entire outfit will be made from crochet patchwork squares in beautiful shades of pumpkin orange, burnt orange, rust, mustard, brown, and black, giving it the look of an old scarecrow that's been lovingly stitched back together over the years.
One of my favorite details is that some of the patchwork squares will feature jack-o'-lantern faces.
But that's not all!
This costume will also include:
- 🎃 A glowing pumpkin staff to light the way through the pumpkin patch.
- 🐄 A spooky cute voodoo cow that hangs from the waist as a unique accessory.
- 🍂 Plenty of stitched details and patchwork textures inspired by scarecrows, voodoo dolls, and the magic of autumn.
I'm currently crocheting all of the patchwork squares first before assembling the costume. Once they're finished, I'll arrange the colors like a giant puzzle to create the perfect spooky patchwork design.
This project is going to be a journey, and I can't wait to take you along with me!
