Crochet Coin Purse

 

Materials Needed:

  • Yarn- Yarnart Jeans White and Pink (any color, cotton yarn works best for durability).
  • Hook 3.5mm
  • Metal clasp frame for coin purses (easily found online or at craft stores).
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Optional: Lining fabric for the inside (and sewing needle/thread).

Abbreviations (US Terms):

  • ch: Chain
  • sc: Single Crochet
  • sl st: Slip Stitch
  • st: Stitch
  • inc: Increase (2 sc in the same stitch)
  • dec: Decrease (sc two stitches together)
  • FO: Fasten Off

Pattern:

Base (Oval Shape):

Round 1: Ch 11. In the second ch from the hook, sc. Sc in the next 9 ch. In the last ch, work 3 sc to round the corner. Working on the other side of the chain, sc in the next 9 ch. In the last ch, work 2 sc. (23)

Round 2: Inc in the first st, sc in the next 8 st, inc in each of the next 3 st, sc in the next 10 st, inc in the last 2 st. (28)

Round 3: Inc in the first st, sc in the next 11 st, inc in each of the next 3 st, sc in the next 12 st, inc in the last 2 st. (33)

Round 4: Inc in the first st, sc in the next 14 st, inc in each of the next 3 st, sc in the next 14 st, inc in the last 2 st. (38)

Round 5: Inc in the first st, sc in the next 17 st, inc in each of the next 3 st, sc in the next 16 st, inc in the last 2 st. (43)

Round 6-16: Sc in each st around. (43) Continue until the body is tall enough to fit your clasp frame (around 2–3 inches tall).

1.   FO and weave in ends.


Attaching the Clasp:

1.   Align the top edge of the crochet purse with the clasp frame.

2.   Using a yarn needle, sew the purse to the frame with small stitches. Make sure it’s secured tightly. Your crochet coin purse is complete! 😊

Coin Cozy Purse

 

Materials:


Abbreviations (US Terms):

  • ch: chain
  • sc: single crochet
  • sl st: slip stitch
  • st: stitch

Instructions:

Base:

1.   Ch 15 (or adjust for your desired purse width).

2.   Row 1: Sc in the second ch from the hook and across (14 sc). Ch 1, turn.

3.   Row 2-6: Sc across. Ch 1, turn. (Creates a rectangular base.)

Body:

1.   Work in rounds now. Sc evenly around the rectangle to create the sides. Place 2 sc in each corner for a rounded edge. Mark the start of your round if needed.

2.   Continue working sc around for 10-15 rounds, or until the desired height is reached.

Closing:

1.   Once the body is done, sl st in the next st, fasten off.

2.   Attach the coin purse clasp securely using thread and needle.
