Materials

Hook D 3.25

Yarn – Scheepjes Catona – Any Colors and Black

Stuffing

Yarn Needle

Scissors

Safety Eyes or Black Yarn   

 

Ears

Round 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from hook. (6)

Round 2: 1 sc in each st. (6)

Round 3: 2 sc in next st, dec in next st, repeat to end. (8)

Round 4: 3 sc in next st, dec in next st, repeat to end. (11)

 

 

 

Head

Round 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from hook. (6)

Round 2: 2 sc in each st. (12)

Round 3: 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, repeat to end. (18)

Round 4: 1 sc in next 2 st’s, 2 sc in next st, repeat to end. (24)

Round 5: 1 sc in next 3 st’s, 2 sc in next st repeat to end. (30) 

Round 6-7: 1 sc in each st. (30)

Note: Rounds 8, 9 and 10 will be worked with purple and white.  

 

Round 8: 1 sc in next 10 st’s in white, 1 sc in next 6 st’s in purple, 1 sc in next 14 st’s in white. (30)

 Round 9: 1 sc in next 11 st’s in white, 1 sc in next 4 st’s in purple, 1 sc in next 15 st’s in white. (30)

   
 

Round 10: 1 sc in next 12 st’s in white, 1 sc in next 2 st’s in purple, 1 sc in next 16 st’s in white. (30)

Round 15: 1 sc in each st. (6) Finish Off


 Handle

Ch 30, sl st in last ch. Fasten off leave long tail for sewing.

 


Tassel

Step 1: Wrap the yarn around cardboard or hand.

 


 Step 2: Tie a piece of yarn at the top and then cut the yarn at the bottom.



 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Step 3: Tie a secure knot at top of yarn and tie to bottom of head. Enjoy.

Sun Hat

 


What You Need

Yarn - Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton or any yarn like it. The alternative I used is Scheepjes Cortana or any Red Heart Yarn.

Size D 3.25 Crochet hook

Tapestry needle

Ch 2, join,9 sc in ring, join, Purple Yarn

Round 2: 2 sc into each st. Purple Yarn

Round 3:1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next, repeat to end. Purple Yarn

Round 4:1 sc in next 2 st’s, 2 sc in next st, repeat to end. Yellow Yarn

Round 5: 1 sc in next 3 st’s, 1 sc in next st, repeat to end. Yellow Yarn

Round 6: 1 sc in next 4 st’s, 2 sc in next st, repeat to end. Yellow Yarn

Round 7: 1 sc in next 5 st’s, 2 sc in next st. repeat to end. Purple Yarn

Round 8: 1 sc in next 6 st’s, 2 sc in next st, repeat to end. Purple Yarn Stop here if using worsted weight yarn and skip to round 9-32.

Round 9: 1 sc in next 7 st’s, 2sc in next st, repeat to end. Purple Yarn

Round 10: 1 sc in next 8 st’s, 2sc in next st, repeat to end. Yellow Yarn

Round 11: 1 sc in next 9 st’s, 2sc in next st, repeat to end. Yellow Yarn

Round 12 -36: 1 sc in each st, Yellow Yarn.

Round 9 – 32: 1 sc in each st. Make sure to change colors every 3 rounds.

 

Brim

Round 37: 1 sc in each st (only on the side right under the st) Purple Yarn

Note: There will be st’s left over (if you are not using worsted weight yarn just sc in those st’s.

Round 38: 1 sc in next 8 st’s, 2 sc in next st, repeat to end.

Round 39: 1 sc in each st.

Round 40: 1 sc in next 9 st’s, 2 sc in next st, repeat to end.

Round 41: 1 sc in each st.

Round 42: 1 sc in next 10 st’s, 2 sc in next st, repeat to end.

Round 43: 1 sc in each st.

Round 44: 1 sc in next 11 st’s, 2 sc in next st, repeat to end.

Rounds 45-46: 1 sc in each st. Finish Off. Only if your not using Red Heart

 

If you’re not using worsted weight yarn then join yarn to the small space between the first and second stitches in Round 38 of your hat. You will surface slip stitch around. Enjoy!

 

If you are using the worsted weight yarn, then continue with the pattern down below.

Round 45: 1 sc in each st.

Round 46: 1 sc in next 12 st’s, 2 sc in next st, repeat to end.

Round 47: 1 sc in each st

Round 48: 1 sc in next 13 st’s, 2 sc in next st, repeat to end.

Round 49: 1 sc in each st

Round 50: 1 sc in next 14 st’s, 2 sc in next st, repeat to end.

Round 51: 1 sc in each st

Round 52: 1 sc in next 15 st’s, 2 sc in next st, repeat to end
