C2C T-Rex Blanket

Dinosaurs 🦖 are my son’s favorite animal and he asked me if I could make him a blanket with dinosaurs on it. I really could not find the graphs I was looking for, so I had to make my own, I made 4 graphs with 4 different dinosaurs for each graph. There’s T-Rex 🦖, Stegosaurus, Triceratops and brontosaurs. I going to make 4 big squares and put them all together to make the blanket, but for now I will start with T-Rex.

You Will Need:
Yarn- ZZ Twist- White and Gray or,Yarn- ZZ Twist- White, and Gray
Yarn - Lion Brand – Jeans-Capri
Crochet Hook D- 3.25mm
Yarn Needle
Scissors

Note: I used a darker green for the outline for this t-rex and a light, but I have had the yarn for so long that I do not know who it is by, so you need a darker green try to get a yarn that is in the same thickness as the other yarns. I think it could be a Red Heart Dark Jade and Spring Green.

Graphs Download

This blanket will be a C2C so all you need to do is follow the graphs, I know it might seem hard, but it is very simple, all you need to do is think of every little square as a C2C block, once you do that this blanket should be easy to make. It should also make it easier to read this pattern. So, let go ahead and get started.

First you want to count how many squares you have across and up the graphs and write it down on the graphs this is, so you can keep track of which row your on. I started with the T-Rex graph and it’s 93 squares across and 70 squares up.

You will use arrows to make sure you follow the graph in the right direction, start your C2C in the corner and make sure you put down a arrow in the direction you go, you need to put an arrow on every row.

C2C: With Gray

The graph is not equal on all side, so you may get to one corner with out get to the other, but because T-Rex is in the middle keep increasing until you get to the other corner. I have written out the rest of the instruction to compensate for these extra blocks. Now if you would like you can decrease on the side where you reached the corner and keep increasing on the other side, but your blanket will not be a square more of a rectangle, it’s up you you.

Crochet Lesson 3

Making a Half Double Crochet (hdc)

Make your chain, you always chain one more than the number of half double crochet stitches called for for your turning chain. Yarn over the hook (yo) and insert your hook in the third chain from the hook.Yarn over the hook and gently pull the wrapped hook through the center of the chain stitch, carrying the wrapped yarn through the stitch, yarn over the hook and draw your yarn through all 3 loops on your hook.

Making a Double Crochet (Dc)

Make your chain, you always chain one more than the number of half double crochet stitches called for for your turning chain. Yarn over the hook (yo) and insert your hook between the 2 front loops and under the back bump loop of the fourth chain from the hook. Yarn over the hook and gently pull the wrapped hook through the center of the chain stitch, carrying the wrapped yarn through the stitch. Yarn over the hook and draw your yarn through the first 2 loops on your hook, Yarn over the hook and draw your yarn through the last 2 loops on the hook.

C2C Grinch Hat

I came up with this hat when I saw the 2019 Corner-to-Corner Crochet Hat from Sarah over at repeat crafter me, I thought her hat was so nice and I have just finished the Grinch scarf, so a nice Grinch hat would go nicely with the Grinch scarf. Note: I used a  thick yarn and my hat came out really big I would suggest using a thinner and lighter yarn for your hat. This hat is for an adult and it ended up being to big for me.    

Materials:

Yarn- White, Green, Red, Yellow and Black

Hook- 5.0m

Row 1: Ch 6, hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in next 2 ch, turn.

Row 3: Ch 6, hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in next 2 ch, sl st, ch 2, 3 hdc in next 2 ch 2 space, turn.

Now you will join one of your colors to the bottom corner of your hat and you will use the yarn to sew up the hat creating a circle, then weaving in and out of the stitches at the top of the hat and pulling tight. Finish off.

Now make a pom-pom for the top of the hat, then you want to sc round the bottom of the hat 3x and enjoy.
